• Sister Nivedita University has been established through the Sister Nivedita University Act, 2017 (West Bengal Act XLIX of 2017), notified in the gazette notification no. 25-L, dated January 9, 2018. Recognition by Regulatory Bodies

• The University has received recognition from esteemed regulatory bodies, including:
• University Grants Commission (UGC): Empowered to award degrees as per section 22 of the UGC Act, vide letter No. 8-3/2018(CPP-I/PU).
• All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE): Received Letter of Approval on April 10, 2018.
• Bar Council of India: Approved for imparting law courses, including three-year LL.B and integrated programs.
• Indian Nursing Council: Suitable for G.N.M. & (link unavailable) (N) courses under section 13 & 14 of INC Act 1947.
• Pharmacy Council of India: Recognized for pharmacy programs.
• Council of Architecture: Recognized for architecture programs.
